At Belle de Nuit Wakefield Inn, our goal is to make sure all our guests have an enjoyable time. We’ve assembled a policy we hope is both fair to our guests, and fair to our establishment. Your peaceful enjoyment is a key priority. Please review our Reservation Policy prior to making a reservation:
All bookings are in Canadian dollars, and are subject to provincial and federal taxes. These taxes will be listed at the end of your reservation process. Room rates are for 2 guests unless otherwise specified. All additional occupants will be required to pay $40 each per night. Children age three or under are considered infants and stay with us free of charge: Please call us toll free at 844-720-0222 and we can assist you with booking a room for your family. Preferably near the deer!
We generally only have a 1 night minimum booking policy. However during certain weekends and long weekends you will notice a 2 night minimum stay policy.
You must be 18 years of age with a valid credit card to make a booking. When making your online reservation you will be asked for the following:
Name, mailing address, phone number, credit card information, desired dates, desired room, number of occupants, arrival date/time
If you reserve your room less than 8 days before arrival, we require you to pay 100% of the booking in advance as it can be difficult for us to accommodate last minute cancellations with so few rooms. Guests reserving more than 7 days before check-in will only be required to pay a 50% deposit at the time of their reservation, and will be charged the balance (50%) within the 7 days non cancellation period preceding the guest stay (this non cancellation period is 21 days for groups renting all or most suites). Please see our cancellation policy with regards to which portions of your deposits can be refunded and under which circumstances.
We would be happy to host stays longer than 7 nights. Please contact us directly for any stay over 7 nights in duration. We offer discounts on longer stays and are happy to discuss this with you over the phone at 819-720-0222.
- Belle de Nuit Wakefield Inn is a non-smoking establishment including on our terraces and verandas. Smoking is allowed in our parking lot. If after your stay we smell smoke in your room, we will be required to charge $500 to your credit card to pay for the required deep cleaning.
- No pets please, but we can recommend excellent kennel’s close by.
- We attempt to maintain a relaxing environment for all of our guests. Please help us keep the common areas peaceful.
- We are not responsible for any lost or stolen personal articles during your stay.
- Replacement costs for stolen, damaged, or stained linen/towels (damaged by oils, creams, wine, etc.) will be added to your room cost.
- Please no visitors after 8pm. Guests may visit between 9am and 8pm.
- In the winter we require guests to remove their outdoor footwear before entering the rest of the building. We encourage you to bring a pair of indoor shoes during this time.
- While the rooms are soundproofed, please make as little noise outside as possible between 10pm and 7am.
- Our beautiful common area includes a gas fireplace, board games, free Wi-Fi, cards, and books available for everyone to use.
Room Cleaning and Cleaning Fees
Your room will be carefully cleaned before your arrival. We do not provide daily cleaning of rooms, however your room will be refreshed daily on stays of 3 nights or less (and twice during week-long stays) We can provide clean towels during your stay upon your request. The cleaning of your suite at the end of your stay is included in your total. However any room having suffered undue wear and tear due to cooking, stains, smoking (which is prohibited) or pets (also prohibited) will be charged an additional deep cleaning fee. This can be from $100 to $500 depending on the level of cleaning required. Thank you for your understanding.
Children are welcome at Belle de Nuit. That said we aim to maintain a relaxing environment for all of our guests. Children under 4 are considered infants and stay with us free of charge.
Parents are asked to accompany children under the age of 11 at all times while on the property. Thank you for your understanding.
We live on site and love interacting with guests, but we do not operate a 24-hour front desk. Room doors function with coded locks, and these 4 digit codes will be provided to you upon checking in. In the event that you cannot check-in during our designated times, you may contact us via email or phone to notify us of a late arrival. In this instance we will email you your door code for your convenience.
Standard check-in time: 4pm to 7pm
Standard checkout time: 11am
If you contact us we will attempt to offer some flexibility on these times. After 9pm we must consider a guest as a “no show” and charge the room in full. Should you anticipate arriving later than 9pm, please notify us to guarantee that your room will be held.
Late Checkout, Early Check-In, and Late Arrivals
Check in time is 4:00pm to 7:00pm, and our check out time is 11:00am. We do offer convenient upgrades for both (late check-out and early check-in) so that you can enjoy 2 extra hours in the Gatineau Park.
We’re a small family-run business. We live on site and love interacting with our guests. That means when you need a local recommendation or help with some activity ideas, we’re there for you. But it also means we don’t run a 24/7 check-in desk. To be able to accommodate late arrivals after 7pm, we ask that guest please add our “late arrival upgrade” during their reservation. This $20 upgrade allows us to staff for a late arrival, or make sure we can provide you what you need for check-in.

Forms of Payment
We accept Visa or MasterCard online, and e-mail money transfers for guests bookings over the phone. Upon check-in you may pay the rest of your balance with Visa, MasterCard, or cash.
Cancellations / Shortened Stays
We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance to avoid any unexpected travel cancellations.
Unlike a large hotel, cancellations have a significant impact on our day-to-day operations since it is unlikely that we will be able to rebook your room on short notice as we only have 5 rooms. It is for this reason that our cancellation policy depends on how much notice is provided to us. We will consider making some exceptions on a case-by-case basis, but in general our policy is:
If you cancel your room 7 days or less before your arrival, sadly we cannot refund your stay. You will be charged your booking balance in full. However if we are able to rebook your room, we may then refund a portion of your room on a case-by-case basis, less our $45 cancellation fee per room and per night.
If you cancel your room 8 days or more before arrival, we will refund your booking total, minus a 45$ booking fee per room and per night. We also accept room transfers if you can find a friend or family member who would like to come visit the splendours of Wakefield in your place.
If you have rented our establishment for a private event or have rented 3 or more rooms we can only refund your booking if you cancel more than 28 days before your arrival. This was chosen because of the large impact cancelling group reservations has on a small inn like ours. If you are able to cancel more than 28 days before checking in, we will only deduct a 45$ fee per room and per night of your booking. As always we will attempt to rent out any cancelled reservations to other guests, in which case we will be able to proceed with a refund (less our $45 cancellation fee). Note that groups booking Belle de Nuit will receive detailed group instructions by email.

Hot Tub Access
Hot tubs are to be used between the hours of 7am and midnight, and we ask that you enjoy them quietly after 9pm in keeping with the serenity of the site and with respect for our neighbours. For health and safety reasons, all guests must wear swimsuits in the hot tubs. Additionally children under the age of seven cannot use the hot tubs. We ask that you please close the cover after each use.
We offer numerous discounts to help offer you an affordable and memorable stay. Sunday through Thursday we offer our best rates for our gorgeous suites. We also offer 15% off for stays of 7 nights or more.
Groups and Events
Our luxury nature retreat is the perfect place to host a small wedding, Christmas party, or to run your quarterly business meeting. Reserve all five units and enjoy unlimited access to the common area and outside patios for your event. Catering can be arranged upon request.
